Invite Only: Lincoln Motors Presents a Special Performance by Beck

When you are asked by the luxury automotive brand Lincoln Motor Company to join them as they launch their yearlong, multi platform program #HelloAgain, you go. When you then realize this once in a lifetime event will  feature a very special performance by award-winning singer/songwriter, Beck, you drop everything you are doing and you forget to breathe for a moment.  That is exactly what happened when I RSVP’d for this very special night. I love Beck.

Let’s be very clear, this was not your ordinary corporate shindig, media outreach or blogger event. This was an exclusive state of the art soiree where the most elite online media influencers, trendsetters and celebrities were invited to watch Beck perform a masterpiece. And it was not simply a quick show of his greatest hits either, this “visual experiment” was Beck’s re-imagining of  David Bowie’s “Sound and Vision”, a full-interactive online experience directed by Chris Milk. History was  being made and we were about to be a part of Beck’s 360-degree immersive show with 150 other musicians on a backlot of  20th Century FOX Studio.  The stage? Two turntables and a microphone.

Where It’s At?

From the moment we entered the studio gates we knew we were in for a very sophisticated evening that we would never forget. The marriage of old and new was everywhere you looked. Brand new, fully loaded Lincolns were parked outside of Al’s Record Shop, where the windows were covered with legendary old-school LP’s like The Velvet Underground and punk rock 45s  from the Germs decorated the glass. Upon check-in, we had received our wristbands, but these were no ordinary bands. They were already chipped with our email and twitter handles. Things were about to get interesting.

As we walked from room to room, we were welcomed as our names flashed up on the Hello, Again screen. When we were photographed at the party, the photo was automatically emailed to us. And my favorite? The unique Twitter waterfall that continued to appear and fade away around the circular room where the cocktail hour was served. The tweets never fully disappeared, only for a moment. It was fun to rub elbows with Hollywood’s A-list and hipsters like Giovanni Ribsi and Danny Masterson while enjoying the signature cocktail of the event, The Clover Club. Who am I kidding? I could barely contain myself. I was about to see Beck perform two feet in front of me with an orchestra. And a gospel choir. And a yodeler. Yes, as in Ri-col-a! A yodeler.

Two Turn Tables and a Microphone

Then it happened, we were seated in the FRONT ROW. Not like there was a bad seat in the theater since there were only four rows, but we were directly in front of Beck’s microphone. As he walked through the crowd to the stage it dawned on us, there were 150 musicians surrounding us ready to create something magical.
You could feel it. You could see it. You could hear it. But I will never be able to explain it. This was going to be something we’ve never witnessed before.Something mind-blowing. Something we will never forget. Then the stage began to rotate, and then so did the audience on the second turntable and then the musicians on stage 3.

By the way, this car is HAWT. This car is a Jet Set Mom ride. Not only did Lincoln pull out all of the stops with Beck’s performance, but they made this Jet Set Mom all hopelessly in love with relaunch of the 2013 Lincoln MKZ. In our family, mom (me) picks the ride, dad closes the deal.

After this event I think Lincoln might be the next car brand in our family.

Hugs & passports,

The Jet Set Family was an invited guest of the exclusive launch of The Lincoln Motor Company Introduces Hello, Again, a one-night special performance from Beck. This is a non-sponsored post. The Lincoln Motor Company did not ask us to include any type of review or mention of the MKZ; however I loved the car so much I wanted to share it with The Jet Set Family readers. All opinions are my own.
