Hollywood: Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store

There is no question in my mind that the El Capitan Theater in the heart of Hollywood is my favorite movie theater ever. We’ve seen screenings of some of our favorite Disney movies there like: The Muppets, Cars 2, Frankenweenie and Beauty and The Beast. Each time we are entertained not only by the film, but a classical organist who greets us on stage performing everything from the movie score to Disney favorites, but the confetti, rose petals and even snow that falls from the sky before the film begins. It’s truly a magical place that captures the nostalgia and excitement of going to the movies. El Capitan Theater was the first place Jet-Set Tot saw her first feature film and it’s always been one of my absolute favorite memories.

Once the show concludes Jet-Set Tot and Jet-Set Dad always love to head next door to Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store where you are immediately transported into an old-fashioned ice cream parlor filled with fun twists. Whether we order cones, sundaes, shakes, malts or floats, we love siting at the counter and being served by an actual soda jerk. Hot dogs, grilled cheeses, Mickey Mouse-shaped PB&J sandwiches and burgers are also available on the traditional soda shop menu, and Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store is open to the public, so you can visit, eat and shop even if you are not staying for a film.

So the next time you find yourself on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with your family looking for a quick treat, or light lunch, make sure to head on over to the El Capitan Theater and have yourself a snack. You deserve it!
