When someone suggests the restaurant Nobu for dinner, ears perk up. No matter where in the world you may be, the food is so irresistibly delicious at Nobu that it is impossible not to enjoy it. I’m pretty sure each and every time someone has said, “How about Nobu?” we’ve ended up there having a great night.
On our last getaway to San Diego, we brought Jet-Set Tot for her first Nobu experience and we were all beyond satisfied. Jet-Set Tot loved the Shrimp Tempura sushi, Jet-Set Dad loved the Wagyu beef tacos, and Jet-Set Mom has been a big fan of the Shrimp and Lobster with Spicy Lemon Sauce for as long as I can remember. We also love the Nobu Tapas menu. It is the best way to try a bunch of different items on the menu without committing to one thing!
And then there was dessert. OK, I know I’ve said in the past that Jet-Set Mom does not have a sweet tooth, and I don’t for the most part, but there are a few restaurants that I just don’t have the willpower to say, “No,” and Nobu happens to be one of them. The PB&J Satandagi with warm peanut butter and chocolate satandagi filling and peanut butter ice cream with plum wine gelee are to die for. Every last bite of that warm goodness is heaven.
From early on, we’ve always said to Jet-Set Tot that she has to try everything. Even if it’s just a taste. I know her well enough by now that if she genuinely enjoys the flavors of something, she will devour it instantly. If something is ‘OK’, then she might have a second or third bite, but it’s better not to force her. And if she tries something and not a fan, then I just don’t go there. That would be like someone force feeding me mayonnaise! No bueno!
