I still cannot believe it has taken me this long to explore the wonderful W Hollywood. As many of you know, Jet-Set Mom has a rock star alter-ego. It’s common once Jet-Set Tot has her dinner, cleans behind her ears, brushes her teeth, gets read a bedtime story and kissed night-night, Jet-Set Mom is hightailing it to LA for a night of good old fashion rock and roll. I’ve noticed the W Hollywood a gazillion times on the corner of Hollywood + Argyle while seeing the Foos at Pantages, or this, that, and another band at the Palladium; however I never stopped by.
Until last Thursday.
Even at 11 am the W Hotel Hollywood exudes pleasure. There is no other way to describe this seksi property. It’s a glam unlike any other. We’re not talking old school Hollywood glam, we’re talking Bianca Jagger | Steve Rubell glam. Let’s make this very clear… as much as I love this place, it’s not on our short list of Jet-Set Family-friendly hotels. I’m certain Jet-Set Tot is sitting this one out. W Hollywood is where the big kids to frolic.
Mario Testino coffee table books, snake-skin leather ottomans, Twiggy pillows, mirrored walls, and a grand staircase that immediately makes you want to do the Hustle Boogie Night style. This place IS the rock star Hollywood dream in a Studio 54 setting. With the Hollywood sign in the distance, and the iconic Capitol Records building just a stone throw away, you automatically get the feeling that this is where dreams come true. This is where the magic happens. Where you leave reality behind.
Forward my mail to the Extreme Wow Suite at the W Hollywood.
And then there is the Extreme Wow Suite. Yes, Jet-Set Friends, that is what it is called: the Extreme Wow Suite. And I promise you, that is where you want to rest your little head. Don’t settle for less! Inside the double doors on the 11th Floor, past the bedazzled peep-hole is a room where the magic happens. What magic? Well that all depends on whom you are bunking with that evening.
Up, up, up to the tippy-top is the rooftop Wet Deck, pool and cabanas off to one side, and the legendary Drai’s on the other. With banquet style seating, views of Hollywood that would bring you to your knees, and some other features that have to do with a brass pole and go-go boots.
Make sure to pencil in some time to get pampered at BLISS Hollywood. I haven’t personally tried any of the services yet, so I cannot give it my Jet-Set Mom seal of approval yet, but as soon as I have the chance to spend quality time at the spa, I will blab all the deets!
Make sure to check out breakfast at Delphine. I loved it!
