The ‘Olelo Room at Disney Aulani

The Olelo Room Disney Aulani

‘Olelo: the Hawaiian word for “language”

The ʻŌlelo Room inside the hotel of Disney Aulani is a fun outside/inside joint where you can listen to live Hawaiian music at night while you enjoy Sunset at ʻŌlelo and nosh on a selection of bar-type food. TheʻŌlelo Room menu not only has full-sized entrees like Oyster Shooters and Sweet and Spicy Guava BBQ Chicken Wings, but during 5 – 7 pm the restaurant offers a Pupu menu for Happy Hour with different specials.

We dined there alone and again with friends and would recommend The ʻŌlelo Room for a small bite on the fly, so you can snack on something to keep the hunger beast at bay. For those with children who are not quite ready for Spicy Tuna Rolls, The ʻŌlelo Room does not have a Kids Menu; however they do have the ability to  order something Kid-Friendly from the menu next door at Mahakiki like pizza or chicken fingers.

What we ate…

Over the course of the week we pretty much tried almost everything off of the Pupu Menu and also a few things off of their regular ʻŌlelo menu. We didn’t have a chance to try the Three Cheese and Garlic Bread or Mini Corn Dogs, but if I can give you one suggestion, even though it’s “one of the most popular items on the menu,” I would recommend passing on the Seared Ahi Poke Rice Bowl. Not very pleasing on the eyes or the tummy.

Kobe Beef Sliders and Garlic Fries

Pork and Vegetable Lumpia

Spicy Ahi Tuna Roll

Loaded Kaluna Pork Nachos with Taro Chips and Pineapple Salsa

Sweet Potato Tots with Spicy Ketchup, Honey Mustard +  Sriracha Aioli

Crispy Calamari (not shown)

Domestic and Imported Cheese Platter with Lehua Honey and Seasonal Fruit

Jet Set Tot loved the music, gave the Pork and Vegetable Lumpia a thumbs up and we loved being outside. We sipped Blue Hawaiians and tried our hand at learning new Hawaiian words and phrases from the kind servers who are locals fluent in the language. It was a fun night, and a great place to hit up for a quick bite before the Starlit Hui. Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time, because remember…you’re now on ‘Island Time’ and the Starlit Hui waits for no one.

What would you order?
